About Dr. Iza
From Small-Town Kentucky to Rural Kenya
Dr. Iza Correll is the founder of OVI Children’s Hospital — Kenya’s first and only long-term pediatric care facility providing free, comprehensive care for abandoned children with terminal and debilitating conditions.
Named after her late nephew, OVI has delivered over 250,000 free overnight stays since its founding, and a second Kenya location is now underway.
She holds a Doctor of Medical Science specializing in global health, is dually licensed as a US Physician Associate and Kenyan Clinical Officer, and is the youngest-ever recipient of the Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Award for Global Citizenship — an honor she shares with President Jimmy Carter and Michael J. Fox.
She has spoken at Yale, TEDx, and global health forums worldwide, offering a powerful reflection on purpose, resilience, and what it means to use one’s skills for meaningful impact.
